I got a question from Mike in Las Vegas earlier this week: “From time to time I am in a game where there are extremely loose and hyper-aggressive players. I am not quite sure how to play against them. Do I loosen up or tighten up? How often should I call them down to the river with marginal hands? or should I just look for a better table? It seems to me that this could be a very profitable situation. I have made some fast cash at these tables but I think the risk is very high also.”

Answer: I like loose hyper-aggressive games, but the risk is definitely higher. You never told me if you play limit or no-limit, which off course makes a great difference. If it is no-limit I usually play selective aggressive, and push it hard when I have a good hand. Limit games are a different story, here you cannot be too tight or you will give up to much. You have to push small edges and often go all the way with marginal hands. Be careful, your swings will be big in those games, but also your potential rewards.
