Tournaments vs. Cash Games
I recently got a question about how playing a draw differs in a cash game and a tournament.
In cash games you can always base your calls on the pot odds. But tournaments are a bit different. You need to protect your chips more in a tournament, because of the simple fact that if you loose them you are gone, while in a cash game you can usually reach in your pocket for more money (at least as long as you play within your comfort zone). An other important reason to protect your stack is that the value of each chip you lose is higher than the value of each one you win. (This is a bit hard to explain, but it has to do with the relative size of your stack, and has been discussed by David Sklansky, among others). Cash games and tournaments are two different things and should therefore be treated accordingly.
Good look at the tables!
