Cari you are so heartless... :)

Good point TomP, you can turn it around and use the "donkey label" to your advantage.

Its just a derogatory term designed to make the user feel more important than they actually are. The person saying it is somehow a much better player than the other now because they have labeled the other a donkey. It's the same as when someone wins after going all in with pocket 7's and they get their set, then announce that they are clearly the better player than the other because they won. That it was their skill alone that beat the pocket A's.
Maybe they think it is strategy to be offensive. Maybe it will make the other players so mad that they will make mistakes. I think it will have the opposite effect and make the rest of the players tighten up and become more aware of not making mistakes.
One benefit to playing these types people is that they label people quickly and will not change their minds. Play weakly for a few hands and you are forever labeled a donkey to them. It doesn't matter that you are only going in less than 25% of the time and the last few hands you beat them soundly with powerful hands. You are still a donkey and they will stay in with you with more often.

You guys are donkeys and are gambling- not playing poker. 'Common, did you even read any of the books out there or just think "I'm going to play anything and just see what happens". Garbage. Go play craps or black jack and gamble elsewhere. And you can just accept that in the poker world if you're a donkey, you are an ass.

This is the truth of the matter. Go ahead and cry with your upset responses.

Where did this whole donkey thing spawn from anyways? This has been one thing that has annoyed me quite a bit while playing online. I have personally not been called a donkey but to just see others saying it to other players is just plain rude.

I've always told people: If all we played in Poker were pokect pairs and face cards the game would be very boring. Those 1-off hands or 7/2 offsuits are what keep the game interesting.

I do recall watching the 2009 WSOP and I think it was day 3 one of the announcers called another player a donkey or it was one of the players at the table that said it and they repeated it, either way... why was it even said on tv?

Bottom line is: It needs to stop. Call them Cops or Calling Stations like they are playing as. Donkeys just isn't a very friendly term. Might aswell just say they're an ass.
